Why install an EV Charger?

The short answer is... it's faster and more efficient to charge your Electric Vehicle with a dedicated charger! And who doesn't love to get where they're going faster?!

Going a little more in depth, your Electric Vehicle runs with a different type of power than your house provides to charge. Because of that, your Electric Vehicle needs to convert that energy to the correct type of power. Because this conversion happens inside of the car, charging with a standard outlet at home is very slow.  With a dedicated EV Charger, the conversion happens inside of the charger instead of the car. This allows your Electric Vehicle to charge at a faster rate - getting you where you need to go faster!

So, how much does it cost to install an EV Charger?
It depends! The cost will vary based on the location you want the EV Charger, the type of EV Charger, if you want a charger vs an outlet only installation, etc. A general range is between $600 and $2000.

Level 1 Chargers (Standard 120v outlet) are usually included with the vehicle and don't require anything beyond a standard outlet. If you need a dedicated circuit this type of installation will cost between $300-$500 depending on complexity of the installation.

Level 2 Chargers (240v outlet) are most common and require professional installation. This ranges from $1000-$2000 depending on the complexity of the installation.

Additional Costs:
- Electrical Panel Upgrade (if Needed): Can increase cost by $500-$2000
- Wiring: Distance from Panel to Installation Site: Can increase cost by up to $1500 or more
